His Eminence Metropolitan Anthony has been leading the Bulgarian Orthodox Church communities in the Diocese of Western and Central Europe of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church – Bulgarian Patriarchate since 2013. The capital and administrative center of the diocese is the town of. Berlin, Germany.
Metropolitan Anthony is the youngest Metropolitan – member of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church – Bulgarian Patriarchate, as well as a member of the Committee of Representatives of the Orthodox Churches to the European Union (CROCEU), Brussels. He is a lecturer at the NGO “Institute of Politics”, Sofia, Bulgaria. Institute of Politics, Sofia.
As a member of the Conference of Orthodox Bishops in Western and Central Europe, he takes part in the decisions and ecclesiastical policies advocated by Sts. Orthodoxy.
With diplomatic flair, Metropolitan Anthony is a champion of the Church’s work and a driving force behind the BOC’s mission among the large Bulgarian Orthodox diaspora.
With his outstanding cultural, charitable and educational activities he actively supports socially significant initiatives in Bulgaria and Europe. For his merits in preserving the historical heritage and spiritual mission for the Bulgarians in Diaspora, Metropolitan Antony was honoured by H.H. Tsar Simeon II with the Grand Officer’s Cross of the Royal Order of St. 108/18 September 2023).
