His Serene Highness Hermann Friedrich Fernando Roland, Prince zu Leiningen was born on April 16, 1963 in Toronto. Son of Princess Marie Louise of Bulgaria and Prince Carl-Wladimir zu Leiningen, great-grandson of the Liberator King Alexander II and Queen Victoria of Great Britain, which officially places him 68th in the order of succession to the British throne. He lives permanently in Canada.
Prince Hermann is Managing Director, International Family Office Investments with Royal Bank of Canada’s Enterprise Strategic Client Group. He is responsible for representing RBC’s investment capabilities to global family offices. With over 30 years experience in the investments industry, Hermann started his career with a US brokerage firm in New York City. He was then hired by RBC Dominion Securities and has since served in several private client and institutional roles both in Canada and overseas. On the private client side, he was Vice President of the Portfolio Advisory Group, as well as Co Investment Strategist for RBC Dominion Securities. With RBC Capital Markets, he served as Vice President Institutional Sales in Lausanne Switzerland, and then coordinated the Sales, Trading and Research effort for the Institutional Equity division in Toronto.
Prince Hermann went back to Switzerland as Head of the Investment Committee for RBC Suisse, helping manage discretionary money for Global Private Banking clients in Geneva. Prior to joining the Enterprise Strategic Client Group, Hermann spent the previous three years in London helping build the Institutional Business for RBC Global Asset Management, as well as the Family Office business for Wealth Management International. Given his experience in the financial markets, Hermann is often asked to give investment seminars to clients around the world.
Prince Hermann graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Prior to that, he graduated second in his class from the prestigious Valley Forge Military Academy in Pennsylvania, the same academy from which His Majesty King Simeon II graduated.
Married to Deborah Cully, they have three daughters – Tatiana, Nadia and Alexandra. He actively participates in a number of Bulgarian initiatives, in events dedicated to the role of King Boris and the Bulgarian people in saving the Bulgarian Jews.
